SPECIAL CLEANUP EVENTS
Spring and fall Community Pride Weeks are great opportunities to clean up City yards and neighborhoods. During these weeks, the Public Works Department collects certain types of materials (e.g., appliances, brush, building materials, furniture, mattresses, scrap materials, tires) from special dumpsters located throughout the City.
Earth Day is in April each year, but you can celebrate everyday by recycling! Log on to www.r-board.org to find a recycling center near you.
Household Hazardous Waste Collection Days are held each spring and fall at the Belman Road Recycling Center (1200 Belman Road) and the Regional Landfill and Recycling Center (489 Eskimo Hill Road). The Public Works Department also holds summer and winter Curbside Bulk Collections for items such as appliances, Christmas trees, and furniture.
There is no trash collection on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day. Alternate collection schedules will be posted each holiday on this website, in The Free Lance-Star, on Cox Channel 24, or you may call 372-1023 for your alternate collection day.
